Disaster in Sochi has Americans disgusted!!!

Sochi ,Russia claiming to have evolved from the days of the cold war mother Russia image, Sochi was chosen to host the 2014 winter Olympic games. Over fifty one million dollars was spent getting ready for this epic event . Nine media hotels were set to open last Friday in anticipation of the big day. Could Russia meet the expectation, or was the pressure too much for a recovering former world power? Well maybe too early to tell now, but most think the Russians are on a fast track to failure.

#sochiproblems has gained a dramatic following because of the horrendous conditions of these hotels. These conditions that would send Vladimir Putin in an outrage. Buildings undone, and unprepared, wild dogs haunt the guests barging in through uncovered openings is just the half. One bathroom was so poorly constructed it trapped a man in. Having to tear a large hole in the center, but the biggest problem of them all was the water. The water which isn’t running in most of the hotels is so disgusting the hotels has issued warnings claiming to keep away from peoples face highly contaminated Yikessss!!! When you see the color and the texture of this water if you manage to keep down the under cooked meal served in the hotel conference room the water resembles a beer you can use to wash it down with just terrible. Why would anyone even consider sticking around?

The Winter games are attended by over 100 countries and attracts millions of people. This is an important opportunity for Russia to attract new tourism and businesses also to generate a tremendous amount of revenue.  These errors need to be fixed immediately and we need to be wowed by some magical experience to not consider the hosting location a total dud.

The Walking Dead thrills fans with mid-season premiere.

The AMC original series, Walking Dead, returned to the screens Sunday night, nearly beating its own record at the ratings by managing to drag 15.8 million desperate fans to their television sets, dying to find out what is the next chapter for Rick and the crew. These numbers put the zombie apocalypse saga above the Sochi Winter Olympics in terms of viewers and at the top of the charts for 2014 so far. The return of the show also became the most-tweeted-about, non-sports television event of the week.

The ninth episode of the series’ fourth season picks up after the very much intense and controversial season finale aired back in December.  On the previous episode we lost the beloved Hershel Greene to the hands of the most hated Governor in Television, as he tries to take over the prison, but soon after is killed by Michonne who stabs him right through the chest in the most unexpected yet bad-ass fashion. Now, all the people remaining from the prison have escaped in different directions in hopes of finding a new place for shelter AND Rick’s daughter Judy is still missing.

Ratings for Sunday’s TWD season premiere fell behind fall’s record when the debut of the first half of the season reported an astounding 16.1 million viewers. Spring season is only warming up though, critically-acclaimed dramas like House of Cards and Scandal are coming back this month; as well as Game of Thrones’ fourth chapter, and Mad Men’s final season, which are both set to premiere in April.

Walker escapes with a win at Pebble Beach!

The AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am wrapped up yesterday after a weekend of great golf.  Jimmy Walker emerged as the overall winner, almost losing his lead shooting 2+ on the day.  Coming in to the final round, Walker had a comfortable lead of six strokes but almost blew the whole thing.  An impressive gap considering the weather on Saturday caused a delay, not because of rain but the unrelenting wind.  The wind was so intense at one point, an official was seen stepping on a ball laying on the green to stop it from rolling off.  Officials attempted to solve the issue by pumping water onto the greens to slow the conditions but ultimately suspended play.

Walker now has three wins under his belt in this young season in only eight starts.  In the last 20 years, this has only been accomplished by Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and David Duval.  Walker walked off with a one stroke lead over Dustin Johnson and Jim Renner smiling from ear to ear.  If he had missed that five foot putt he would have been forced into a playoff with Johnson and Renner.  Three wins in eight starts is impressive, but it’s even more of a milestone for Walker who came into the season with no career wins ever since turning pro in 2001.

Jim Renner and Consolidated Restaurant Operations CEO John Harkey Jr took the trophies home for the pro-am side of the competition and finished with a strong round of 61 on Sunday surpassing Rory Sabbatini and Blake Mycoskie (founder of Toms Shoes).  Notable Amateurs playing the in tournament included: Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Alex Smith, Bill Belichick, Andy Garcia, Ray Romano, Kurt Russell, Kenny G, Kid Rock, Andy Roddick, Aaron Rodgers, Kelly Slater and many more.  Bill Murray, star of cult classic “Caddyshack”, was not a player this year; missing out on his 6th consecutive appearance due to scheduling conflicts.  Ultimately these celebrities bring in the crowds to an event with good intentions, giving its proceeds to charity.

Walker leads the FedEx cup rankings at number one for the season so far in addition to his top earnings of $3,605,833.00 this year.  Walker has played 30 rounds of golf so far this year, and when you divide it down he has made roughly $6678.00 per hole of golf; not a bad career choice if you can swing it.

The Sochi Olympics Continue to Be a Disaster

The 2014 winter Olympic games in Sochi, Russia is probably by far one of the worst and most talked about Olympics the world has seen. The Olympic games officially began of Friday February 7th, 2014 but the buzz on the street came long before the start of the games. Travel experts say that this years’ games could see the lowest amount of American spectators and I for one am not at all surprised.

Most of the infamous talk began as the Olympians and reporters began to arrive in Sochi, Russia. The world thought they had already seen the worst of Sochi by its dual toilets but little did they know that was only the beginning of a long ride. A group of CNN reporters that booked travel plans for the games months in advance expected to each have individual full equipped rooms but were sadly mistaken. Upon their arrival, not only did they have to check into their rooms through the owners own bedroom, only two out of the six rooms they requested were ready!

Another reporter complained that her water in her hotel room was not working and when they did turn the water on it appeared to be a yellow color and was told “whatever you do don’t put your face in the water it has dangerous things” She would of been better off with the water off! As the Olympic games headed to a start a couple of the athletes have dropped out of their races because the courses are too dangerous to compete. One Snowboarded almost had a near death experience when she crashed and her helmet spit in half this weekend. My question is who chose this place? Most of us had no idea where Sochi was on the map before the games, now we definitely have something to remember it by.

“Sochi Problems” Olympic Village Lodging: Less Than Impressive, Possibly Dangerous

Since American journalists began arriving in Sochi, Russia for the 22nd Winter Olympics, they have been encountering some strange mishaps with their boarding situation. Many have been complaining that hotel rooms and buildings have not been finished and are potentially dangerous. The Twitter handle @SochiProblems has over 300,000 followers, which more than half the amount of followers that the US Official Olympic Team twitter has. The popularity of the topic increased exponentially when Nick Cunningham tweeted a picture of his hotel bathroom door, or at least what was left of it after he broke through it because he was trapped after a shower due to shoddy craftsmanship and the fact that he didn’t have his cell phone or any means to call for help.

A Russian official stated that the remarks are untrue and that the US reporters are just looking to make headlines (which is a fair assumption based on recent media coverage). The the deputy prime minister of Russia famously stated, “We have surveillance video from the hotels that shows people turn on the shower, direct the nozzle at the wall and then leave the room for the whole day,” which is rather unsettling, but a spokesperson soon after attempted to clarify by suggesting that deputy prime minister Kozak was referring to the testing during construction. It is easy to brush these accusations off as rumors, but the pictures on Twitter keep reinforcing the thought that Sochi really wasn’t ready to host so many people. Pictures show notes from the hotel telling guests not to flush toilet paper down the toilet or drink any of the water from the faucet as it is “very dangerous.”

Could Homosexuality affect your Personal Income?

Recently in the NFL, there was a huge rock that created ripples in the whole league. Michael Sam, a 1st team All-American Defense End from Missouri, announced to the world that he was gay. Gay. Michael Sam, who recently came out to the world, will now have to face the NFL draft.  The issue with Michael is that even though his sexual orientation does not affect his NFL career, it will possibly affect his draft position. His draft position will definitely affect his personal income. It is very well known that depending on your draft position, is exactly how much money you can expect to be paid.

Many cable networks including ESPN have been stating that Michael Sam’s decision will affect his NFL draft position. Why? The reason lies in the possible distraction. Being the first NFL draftee to come out, there will be extra added attention to the particular team that will draft him. With this added attention, will the other players get tired of being asked how Michael’s decision affects them? Some players may not want the added distraction and therefore present their cases to the upper office for Michael not to be on the team. By announcing his homosexuality, Michael has risked his opportunity for a higher payday. In our idealistic mindset, we think that everybody should be objective. However, this is not the world we live in.

Michael Sam is a perfect example that your personal decisions will affect your income. It is very important to fully understand personal decisions post likely will affect your income bracket.

Rhino Beetle Attacks Hawaii: Targeting the coconut

Over the past couple months, the notorious Rhinoceros Beetle  invades the streets and grasslands of Hawaii. They have been killing the crops by eating the plant sap and exposing them to disease. Darcy Oishi, an Agriculture Department Official stated that there is no effect from the various legal pesticides they have been using on the beetle. These Rhino Beetles have been known to mate and reproduce in garbage cans and debris so state officials have told residents to rid their yards of these potential beetle nests. This problem has become so big that the navy has gotten involved to search for major breeding sites which have been found to be in close proximity of each other. Scientists speculate that the Beetle may have found a ride from one of the civilian aircraft’s overseas since the breeding sites are close to the airport.

The Rhino Beetle has targeted the coconut as their main source of food and from this Hawaii has suffered a great loss of this valuable crop. However birds, rats and mongoose have already started to rid the infestation of the Rhino Beetle. The places where the Rhino Beetle has been found are now empty and other predators have been taking their place. This has helped the control of this bug and hopefully in the future they will get rid of them completely. Scientists say that getting rid of this bug isn’t impossible but it is improbable at this time because of the mass amounts of breeding sites that are still being discovered. Hawaii will need to act fast because if not one of their most valuable crops will diminish forever.

Move over Leno, your time is up! Jay Leno, the former host of the Tonight Show on NBC, has said good-bye for the last time (again) and handed the reigns of the Tonight Show over to his new successor, Jimmy Fallon. O’Brien lasted about 9 months, and then, due to various actions by the network, Leno ended up back with his spot t the Tonight Show. Jimmy Fallon has been comfortably resting at his spot right after Leno at Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. In February of 2013, it was announced that Leno would be leaving the Tonight Show (for good this time) and Jimmy Fallon would be taking over.

Australian teenager robs gas station with chainsaw and flowerpot

One might think that a teenager in Australia has been watching too many horror movies after a drunken robbery occurred yesterday inside of a gas station. The teen named Alexis Steele entered a 7-Eleven convenience store at 4:30 am wielding in his arms a running chainsaw and on his head a flower pot. The drunken teen then reportedly lunged at staff members who quickly escaped to a back room for safety and to alert the police of this strange attack.

Steele demanded money as the chainsaw buzzed in his hands, however it seems as if the alcohol may have impaired his conquest of the local 7-Eleven and it’s cash register. Instead of making off with bundles of cash, he left with only a bottle of soda. Before exiting the teen damaged a window with his chainsaw, broke many display racks, and to top it off, exposed his buttocks to the store attendants. As he fled the parking lot he also damaged a parked car.

A police officer responding to the panicked store attendant’s call noticed Steele walking down the side of the road, thus leading to an arrest and the end of his chainsaw pillaging days. The chainsaw was recovered in a bush after a dog squad traced his scent back to the 7-Eleven.

The teen is being charged with one count of armed robbery, two counts of wilful damage, one count of going armed to cause fear, one count of public nuisance, and one count of possessing suspected stolen property. Steele did not apply for bail and will remain in jail until his case is heard by a judge on March 3rd. The fate of the flower pot is unknown at this time.

Bathurst Provides GT Excitement For All

At the conclusion of 12 hours of racing around Australia’s famed Mount Panorama Circuit, Ferrari took their first ever overall victory in the 13th running of the Bathurst 12 Hour. The team of current V8 Supercars driver Craig Lowndes, former F1 driver Mika Salo, John Bowe and Peter Edwards took their Ferrari F458 to the Class A and overall victory with a race-record 296 laps for a distance of nearly 1,850 kilometers. Second place by just 0.414 seconds went to the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG of Maximilian Buhk, Thomas Jäger and Harold Primat team of HTP Motorsport. The McLaren MP-4 12C of V8 Supercar driver Shane Van Gisbergen set a new closed-roof lap record at the circuit with a 2:03.851 that blistered the old record set by the late Allan Simonsen 2 years ago. Simonsen was set to run in the race-winning Maranello Ferrari before an early accident claimed his life in last year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans race.

The early portion of the race saw the Class B-leading Lamborghini of JBS Swift lose a 5 second per lap advantage when a kangaroo hopped across the track into it’s path. After 12 hours of running the Class B victory went to the Porsche 997 Cup from Grove Motorsport piloted by Stephen Grove, Earl Bamber and Ben Barker by a lap over McElrea Racing’s Porsche 997 Cup. Class C went to the Donut King Lotus Exige Cup R of Tony Alford, Peter Leemhuis and Mark O’Connor as one of the final cars running. Richard Billington, Lewis Scott and Stuart Owers took the Class D win over Peter O’Donnell’s BMW 355i with their Seat Leon Supercopa. And finally Class F was a sweep by the Fiat Abarth 500s as they were the only entries in class.
